So that's what happened

I read this morning that on Wednesday at the Nashville airport an American Airlines worker went beyond their duty and used her special pass to take Al Gore and his staff through a special room where they did not have to go through security.

Mr. Gore was to meet a security guard on the opposite side of security but when Al Gore arrived the security guard asked him if he had already been through security, he told how the American Airlines employee helped them.

Well this is a no-no in this post 9/11 world. E V E R Y B O D Y goes through security so back they went (this must have been when grandpa saw Al Gore).

The American Airlines employee has been put back through the training on security a second time. I guess she doesn't know that Al Gore "puts his pants on one leg at a time" as the expression goes.

Love to all,
Grandma

We just got home from a month long vacation in San Diego. One of the first things to do was catch up on all the news from Tennessee. I missed reading about your experiences. Enjoyed the story about Lanny MacDonald--never heard about that night. As you might know Lanny's sweater hangs in the Saddledome (number 9 retired). Mention to L. that I was at the game the night Lanny scored his 500th goal. The next day I called the Flames and asked if I sent last night's program over would they have Lanny autogragph it. To provide an incentive I also sent Lanny three company golf balls. A week later I received a phone call at my office---R this is Lanny thanks for the golf balls, with my game I can always use free golf balls--what would you like me to write on the program. We talked for about 10 minutes. Lanny has always been a fan favorite where ever he played and remains one today in Calgary.

The issue of the Dam sounds a bit worrisome. What is the purpose of the dam?--ie: hydro, water conservation, agriculture, recreation.

Vacation was great, B returns to work tommorrow, R has become a member of Rotary and leaves March 23rd for a week of golf in Palm Desert. R hopes B doesn't retire soon.

Welcome home. Glad you had a great time. Yes B. is working to support your golf habit!!

The dam must be for water conservaton and recreation, I didn't see a power plant on any of the pictures. I remember studying in high school about the Tennessee Valley Authority building dams etc., here as make work projects during the depression.

They were not too thorough in the study of the rock base and construction of dams!

Someone told us they know a man doing outside contract work with the Corps of Engineers and that he says there is a 50 - 50 chance of the dam breaking. I have started to get together supplies in case we have to leave. But on the worse case scenario maps we are well away from the highest flood point.

My Cousin J who lives in Calgary also wrote highly about Lanny and says even today if we contacted him he would probably send Jake something because of that hockey game where he asked little Jake to touch his stick.

Welcome back to reality.

I stand corrected. Grandpa says the Wolf Creek Dam is a hydro producing dam.
