On Saturday evening Ya-Ya and I went with Grandpa to the car races in Nashville. The Speedway is at the State Fair Grounds. It, like the baseball stadium a couple of weeks ago, is pretty run down. I think Gaylord Entertainment needs to help some of these local venues to spruce up or redo their stadiums.
But we had a great time. I liked the Dwarf car racing the best. These Mini Racers speed around the inside quarter mile track, lots of tight turns and door bumping. But we stayed well into the night to watch Grandpa's favourite the late model Firebirds and Camaros race 100 laps, we stayed for about 80 of those.
Last night Ya-Ya and Grandpa went fishing at Station Camp Creek near the boat launching area. I went but read my book "The Life of Pi". It is actually one of the books Ya-Ya has to read for English class this year in Grade 10. I am not thrilled with it. I hope it gets better. It is very religious right now the writer thanks some Hindu god that led him to find Jesus!! Yuck. Ya-Ya is reading the other book she has to read "Troy". We will switch books later in June.
Does anyone know anything about this book "The Life of Pi" ?
Anyway Grandpa caught a Large Mouth Bass, about 10 inches long plus another one got away, I actually saw it on his line, splash up out of the water. Ya-Ya likes her new grown up fishing pole that Grandpa bought for her this Spring.
Today, is Memorial Day here in the USA and we are going to the Zoo. Thanks Ella for phoning us about your bike accident with Clara and allowing us to pray for you and for the kids for saftey this summer out playing and on your bikes. That was so kind and thoughtful of you, it all helps us to feel part of your lives! :)
Have a great week.
Love to all,
Grandma

Did Dad fall asleep while you were "walking the races"?
Rich
that should be "watching the races" not "walking the races" . . . .
Rich
No he actually stayed awake at the races. It was more than a drone, so it was too noisey, plus the benches were not as comfortable as his big green chair.
